The Spice Litter at Artemis Moon Coons: Eyes Are Opening

One of the sweetest milestones in a young kitten’s life has begun — the moment their tiny eyes start to open.

At around 7–10 days of age, kittens slowly begin to peek out at the world for the very first time. At first it’s just a narrow slit, and their vision is still blurry, but each day their little eyes open a bit more as they start discovering their surroundings.

Our newest Spice Litter at Artemis Moon Coons has officially reached that stage, and it’s always one of our favorite moments to watch. Personalities begin to appear, tiny expressions start to show, and the kittens take their first steps from sleepy newborns into curious little explorers.

This litter has six beautiful kittens, each wearing a soft collar so we can easily tell them apart as they grow.

All kittens are born with deep blue eyes, and over the coming weeks their true eye colors will begin to develop.

Right now they still spend most of their time doing what newborn kittens do best — sleeping, nursing, and growing at an astonishing pace — but the world is beginning to open up to them one tiny blink at a time.

Meet the Spice Litter

As their eyes begin to open, each kitten is starting to show their own little personality. For now they still spend most of their day snuggled together and nursing with mom, but curiosity is beginning to win out as they wobble around their nest.

Clove · White Collar · Female

Clove has a sweet, gentle expression with those newly opened eyes. At this stage she’s still learning to coordinate her tiny legs, but she’s beginning to lift her head and look around more each day.

Basil · Green Collar · Male

Basil is one of the handsome boys in the litter and already looks like he’s thinking about adventure. Like all kittens this age, his world is still mostly about warm naps and milk, but his eyes are starting to take it all in.

Poppy · Purple Collar · Female

Poppy has a soft, curious look and is beginning to peek around with her bright newborn-blue eyes. It’s always amazing to watch how quickly their expressions start to change once their eyes open.

Chili · Red Collar · Male

Chili is another of the boys in the litter and already showing that classic Maine Coon sweetness. Right now he’s mastering the art of the tiny kitten crawl — a slow, determined wobble across the blanket.

Sumac · Blue Collar · Male

Sumac is beginning to take in the world a little more every day. With his eyes opening wider, he’s starting to notice light, movement, and his siblings nearby.

Fennel · Light Blue Collar · Male

Fennel is the last of the litter’s boys and is beginning to join his siblings in those first exploratory wiggles around their nest.

What Happens Next

Over the next week their eyes will fully open and their vision will slowly improve. Soon they’ll begin responding more to sounds and movement, and their little personalities will start to shine.

For now, they’re still tiny, sleepy, and completely devoted to growing — but every day brings something new.

We look forward to sharing more updates as the Spice Litter continues to grow here at Artemis Moon Coons.
