What Goes Into Raising an ArtemisMoon Maine Coon Kitten
At ArtemisMoon Maine Coons, each kitten is raised with an incredible amount of care, intention, and love from the very beginning.
We occasionally receive questions about pricing, especially regarding unique traits such as blue eyes or polydactyl paws. We completely understand the curiosity, and wanted to share more about what goes into raising these kittens so families can feel confident and informed when choosing their new companion.
It Starts Long Before the Kittens Are Born
Responsible breeding begins well before a litter arrives. Parent cats are carefully selected based on health, temperament, and lineage. Genetic testing and ongoing veterinary care are an important part of this process.
This foundation helps ensure that kittens are not only beautiful, but healthy and well-adjusted.
Around-the-Clock Care
From birth through adoption, kittens receive daily monitoring and hands-on care. Their environment is kept clean, enriched, and safe, and they are provided with high-quality nutrition appropriate for each stage of development.
Especially with larger litters, this stage requires a significant amount of time, attention, and consistency.
Veterinary Care and Health Standards
Before going to their new homes, kittens typically receive veterinary exams, age-appropriate vaccinations, parasite prevention, and documented health records.
Health and wellbeing are always the top priority.
Socialization and Temperament
One of the most important aspects of raising kittens is early socialization.
ArtemisMoon kittens are raised in a home environment, where they are handled daily and exposed to normal household activity. This helps them develop into confident, affectionate, and well-adjusted companions.
Unique Traits (Blue Eyes, Polydactyl, etc.)
Some kittens may develop unique or highly sought-after traits, such as blue eyes or polydactyl paws.
Polydactyl kittens are a natural part of some of our lines (such as those from Zoi), and this trait is often present across her litters.
Blue eyes are also present within our lines (for example, in our king Kirill), though this trait is not guaranteed in every kitten and may become more apparent as kittens grow.
Because these features are not always immediately visible, availability and pricing decisions are sometimes made as kittens grow and their traits become clearer.
King Kirill’s striking blue eyes are a rare and distinctive trait in Maine Coons, adding to his unique presence.
Some of our cats, like Persephone, have unique traits such as odd eyes (one blue, one gold), which add to their distinctive beauty.
Zoi Snø is polydactyl, meaning she has extra toes — a naturally occurring trait in Maine Coons often associated with their strong, snow-adapted lineage.
A Note on Pricing
Pricing reflects the time, care, resources, and long-term commitment that go into raising each kitten—not just their appearance.
At ArtemisMoon:
Standard kittens are typically placed at $2600
Kittens with rare traits, such as blue eyes, may be priced higher
We do not negotiate pricing, as it reflects the level of care each kitten receives.
Choosing the Right Home
With multiple litters growing at once, the focus remains on finding the right homes for each kitten.
We truly appreciate families who value ethical breeding practices, health and temperament, and the lifelong commitment of bringing a kitten home.
